What is a Piston Accumulator?
Piston accumulators are precision-engineered hydraulic storage devices made of high-quality cylinder tubes, with their internal surface machined to a superfine grade. An internally mounted piston moves freely inside the tube to separate the gas and fluid chambers. The gas section is pre-charged with nitrogen (an inert, non-reactive gas) to maintain system balance.
How Piston Accumulators Work
Hydraulic fluid enters the accumulator through the fluid port under system pressure, compressing the nitrogen gas on the other side. When the system pressure drops, the compressed gas expands, pushing the stored fluid back into the circuit. This process provides immediate hydraulic energy while maintaining stable system performance.
