A hydraulic return line filter is installed at the final stage of the hydraulic circuit — between the actuators and the reservoir. It captures solid contaminants from the return flow before clean oil re-enters the tank, protecting pumps, valves, and other critical components from wear and damage.

A simplex filter has a single housing and requires system shutdown during element replacement. A duplex filter has two parallel housings with a change-over valve — allowing one side to remain active while the other is serviced. Duplex filters are recommended for 24/7 continuous hydraulic operations.

Selection depends on your system's maximum flow rate (l/min), operating pressure (bar), fluid type, contamination level, and required micron rating. Undersized filters can collapse the element or trigger the bypass valve, allowing unfiltered oil to enter the tank.
